Internet Marketing 101
When you hear the term “internet marketing“, what do you think of?
For many, that term conjures thoughts of websites or spamming or search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. For others, it’s all about graphical design, writing fancy code or even affiliate programs. All of those answers correct, but the essence of internet marketing is much simpler.
At its core, internet marketing is about these things:
* Understanding the target market to which the product/service/cause you’re marketing will appeal
* Determining exactly how your target market interacts with the internet
* Positioning your content on the internet to attract the attention of your target market
* Collecting information about your target market (also known as “leads”) for follow-up and conversion into sales
* Design of offers or incentives to induce the desired actions from your leads
Since there is insufficient space in this article to give all of these topics adequate attention, let’s focus on just one specific topic with the realm of internet marketing: Email Marketing.
My best payoff has always come by focusing on permission-based email marketing. Permission-based email marketing refers to the practice of collecting information (including email addresses) from website visitors and communicating with them via e-mail with their direct consent. The “permission” aspect of permission-based email marketing is what separates legitimate email marketers from the spammers that everyone despises.
My love of email marketing is strong for one reason: It works very well. Email marketing has been much like a never-ending goldmine: It enables us to produce income on demand simply by sending a good offer to our list. When you have thousands of loyal subscribers – as we do – and you put a strong and compatible offer in front of them, income becomes nearly automatic.
However, the key to successful email marketing is the development of a legitimate trust relationship with your subscribers. If you opt to send your subscribers a request for purchases every single day, they will likely tire of your badgering and cease reading your emails altogether.
Alternatively, if you take the time to provide good content to your readers on a regular and frequent basis, you’ll discover that your readers take all of your emails far more seriously, and as a result your emails will be opened, read and acted upon with greater frequency. Essentially, email marketing is really an exercise in trust.
While there are many more aspects to internet marketing than just permission-based email marketing, email has definitely been the cornerstone on which our business is built.
Remote Working Part 3 – Best online software
self management more….
Before I present to you my list of my favourite Internet tools that are sure to help you to work remotely, I wanted to write about one more pearl of wisdom concerning self management and specifically to do with keeping your focus and powers of concentration
I’ve observed and established a common habit in acquaintances who work online and I’ve known for a substantial period and I call this habit the fifty min rule. I discovered these individuals who focus and work for fifty mins. and then pause for a complete 10 minute rest and are a significant order of magnitude more efficient and produce a considerably higher quality of work than men and women who don’t have structured working methods.
OK as promised I present you with my list of preferred remote working web applications:
Google Mail doesn’t cost anything. But in my opinion the search and label (categories) functions are most definitely the best I have so far discovered. Googlemail can be a little slow on aging PC’s
Phone calls
Skype continually perplexed me as the call quality and reliability was atrocious, but a big pat on the back for the geeks at Skype now as they have substantially changed the quality of the service. For meagre amount of money a month Skype lets me call and conference in any phone and Skype user on Earth. The current version of Skype has a ton of really good functions and there are now plenty of of practical add on applications.
Organising Content
Evernote has connected more than a million users in no time at all – it lets you to store, organise and add notes to any type of digital content up on the Internet. Just go check it out…it’s free.
Invoicing, Time and Expenses capture, Accounting and CRM
You probably know that my ambition to work remotely was originally motivated by Quickbooks Online, a small business accounting software system. But it is shadowed by the free edition of salesorder.com – a lead to cash system that’s as easy to use as a kettle I looked at NetSuite whose pricing (and people) scared me off. My choice here is salesorder.com – Go check it out.
Remote Working Part 2 – Self discipline essentials
The main reason men and women fail to adjust to operating remotely is they fail to see the essential requirement of first class organisation and solid self management.
I have been working remotely for nearly 8 yrs since I first discovered Quickbooks online an ‘on demand’ small business accounting software service and was motivated by the fact that if you can perform accounting on the web then why shouldn’t it be viable to do other key types of of work remotely?
Whilst working remotely has substantial gains there are numerous traps that people easily fall into which turn into problems that result in decreased work output and reduced morale. The number one reason for reductions in effectiveness in remote employees is disturbance and it is a proven and well publicised fact that it can take a employee up to 20 mins to return to their original output level after experiencing a disruption.
Studies also show that members of both sexes who are regularly experience distractions are more likely to suffer from lower memory capability and are prone to developing mental health trouble in later life. We exist in an over communicated environment and it is important that you recognise the problems this causes before you begin working remotely. Whilst operating remotely you have to do everything feasible to minimise the jeopardy of being distracted.
Here are the essentials:
1, Get a routine, tell everyone about it and rigidly adhere to it!
Good examples are a consistent time of day when you look at or write and send electronic mail and make or take phone conversatiions. Before I began working remotely I used to get as many as two hundred e-mails in 24 hours. Now I think I am unfortunate if I get more than 4. To ‘restart’ my e-mail experience I changed my e-mail address and vigorously took precautions to shield the details being made available to anyone. I then ‘trained’ everyone who I gave my e-mail address to, to use it with special care. I also created an auto-responder that swiftly informed anyone sending me mail my routine for processing mail and if something must have my urgent attention to mark it as ‘Urgent’.
2. Get rid of alerts.
Disable every possible mechanism that can send you a visual or audible alert. This includes mobile and
ordinary phones and types of alerts from e-mail such as visual alerts, beeps, display changes to your inbox folder and of course facing a window. Get a door on your study and put up a ‘do not disturb’ sign on it.
In ‘Remote Working Part 3 – Essential tools’ I will reveal my favourite tools and software.

Social Websites Boost Personal Online Trading Activity
I’m sure you can remember the huge buzz that went around when Ebay first launched and people could easily sell almost anything that wanted. It gave people the power to release a few quick funds by selling objects that they had lying around, find an obscure item that they’d always wanted, or set up an online business and start trading properly from the comfort of their home. Of course Ebay is still a very popular website, but there are some new kids on the block in the form of social sites like MySpace, Facebook and Twitter.
One website that was quick to see the potential in allowing their users to trade items online was Facebook. Their ‘marketplace’ quickly became an active community in itself and people even started setting up shops here, in the same way as you might do on Ebay. There are of course some well established sites such as Craig’s List and Gumtree that provided successful online trading abilities, but the enhanced social element of the newer sites has meant they have come under strong pressure from the competition. They encourage a more discerning buying process whereby you can do some background research on the seller, request more information, or even ask the opinion of some experts in the field. For example, before you make that commitment to buy one of those second hand bikes you can request more pics, query your friends about it, or ask those people who are hanging out in the cycling community section if you are making the right choice, and if not, what is the right one?
Moreover, people now even have the ability to actually seek out items that they are looking for via sites such as Twitter. For example an extreme sports enthusiast might post on their twitter profile that they are looking for 7’6” surfboards, and because of the potential size and power of the networks here, they will likely find multiple people very quickly who have suitable surfboards for sale

There are many simple ways to promote your business using Facebook. Facebook alone should be able to drive significant traffic if utilized correctly. Start generating leads to your network marketing business using simple strategies like these.
Search engine optimization: Going back to the basics
If you go to any SEO or webmaster related forum you’ll see that they are full of ‘SEO experts’ of al sorts and fashions asking same newbie questions. First of all, do you think this is very interesting to see people claiming to search engine optimization experts in the basic content of endless and there is no clue to Google page rank is actually. They ask you how they can improve their search engine ranking in one thread and offer quality SEO services in another.
I tend to believe that quite a large part of these self-proclaimed SEO experts are not as SEO illiterate as they claim to be. They’re simply after some quick signature links. However, no matter how SEO really really do not know the who, what they have done almost nothing. It’s ok if you’re optimizing your own site.
Search engine optimization or SEO for short is the process of tweaking websites in a way that will make them appear high in the search results for specific search terms known as keywords. All optimization activities can be broken down into to broad groups: onpage (stuff you do on your website) and off-page (things you do to promote your website on the rest of the web).
This is the first and one of the most important stages of SEO. First of all you need to think about what you want to achieve with your SEO. For many people (too many actually) search engine optimization is a growing number of page rank, but in fact is not. Page Rank is only one factor and the ranking is not the most important. There are lots of low PR web pages that rank well for rather competitive keywords. In addition, the page rank you see Google Toolbar PR has nothing to do with the real value of public relations. The toolbar PageRank is designed to entertain webmasters and give them some sort of metrics they can monitor (we all like stats, don’t we?). The goal of SEO is not the page rank but top positions in the search results for relative keywords. Once you realize that you can stop worrying about your PageRank and concentrate on actually optimizing your website.
Staying Connected In The Financial Markets With Twitter
Ask any city trader, such as a hedge fund manager or invest banker and they will tell you that communication plays a massive role in their job. It is vital for them to have open channels of communication with others and be connected to the latest business information. This information tends to come from a great deal of sources, including mediums such as press releases, business statements, cable news channels and many more. These mediums have served traders well previously but they are always on the lookout for more convenient and pioneering methods for getting and giving information. The phenomenon that is Twitter is now being adopted by city traders according to National Austalia Bank (NAB), as a means of staying connected to those in the know.
Twitter has been termed a ‘micro-blogging’ entity, where people are limited to posts of 160 characters. What this means is that posts have to be to the point and not include small talk, which according to Trevor Keen of the City Trading Union in NY “is exactly the kind of information traders want”. Users within a certain niche, such as the Beacon sector, can follow other Twitter members who they want to receive updates from, and can themselves be followed. There is very little that is still local when it comes to city trading these days and often businesses and individuals need to stay connected to lots of other people around the world, who may be working in different time zone. This is made possible via Twitter, which allows various information and media outlets to communicate and feed off each other, often supplying information as it develops and without bias.
There have been some groups that have frowned upon the use of Twitter as they say it has potential to be a portal for insider trading as messages can be sent privately. Although supporters such as this multicore cables business are quick to point out that this was always possible via email and the real power comes from the ability to alert hundreds of thousands of people publically, which of course can be monitored for underhanded dealings if necessary
Make Money With Twitter
So many people these days are making use of Twitter, it’s like the best way to keep in touch with friends and family at anytime of the day. By now, especially if you’re a member, you must have thought at least once, could I earn money with Twitter?

Check out Making Money with Twitter to learn how YOU can start making money NOW with Twitter and generate up to $4000 in 24 hours!
Twitter lets you remain in contact with friends, family, and colleagues by sending small text messages of maximum length 140 characters, which feature is not there in MySpace and Facebook. You can use Twitter to endeavor it and feel happy about using it.
Twitter can be used to create money through the advertisements which you can fire instead of the Tweet. For a sport, TV show, game, movie, or a game you might register an account in Twitter. Through mass sending of Tweets you can transfer the advertisements for your products or services to all in your contacts and hence promote mass marketing.
You can have people opening up a paid account for your service say job search service and you can distribute them Tweets about the available jobs, thus using Twitter to earn money.
You can market the products and services using Tweets to transfer across the message in your advertisement to all your Twitter contacts.
Using Twitter you can start to sell a product to your contacts and once you develop a target audience, you can put up for sale, using your own website. The payment can be completed using PayPal or a payment merchant like AlertPay or Escrow.

Facebook – why link dropping is bad
Many people are introduced to facebook by younger family members usually aged under 20. (I certainly was). At first, it can look very daunting.
Members of your family photographed on holiday and/or dressed in silly clothes with comments added by people you have never heard of – some of which can look very dodgy indeed.
So how can this apparent jumble of oddballs and misfits be any use what so ever to almost any business?
Well, the thing to remember is that oddballs and misfits are everywhere these days, walk down the road or to the train station and you will see variety of different shapes and sizes of people. A business person wouldn’t view everyone of these as a prospect in real life and neither should you on facebook.
The second thing to remember is that facebook doesn;t come with a training manual or a how to guide. As with so many things these days, people are just expected to “get on with it” And without any sort of online training often just means copying what other people do. With regards to promoting a business on facebook, unfortunately, this generally means link dropping.
Someone starts a group (It’s a little known secret that forums and online communities are very hard to start) and invites their friends to join. Friends join, and because there isn’t a community already and because they don’t know what to say or have never been coached in how to start a conversation, they just say
“Hi, we are ABC widget makers and if you need replacement widgets, visit our online store”
Then 1 of 2 different things is likely to happen
The first probable thing is that no one is ever likely to click that link.
Why?
Because people hate being sold to. Plus they are unlikely to buy widgets (or any other service from someone they have neither met nor heard of before)
The next likely thing is that anybody who does respond will just say something like.
“Hi, Fab link”
That’s a bit like saying
“Hi, great shirt” – but they can never say what makes it a great shirt
But there is another way
It takes time and effort – sorry to say that you can’t get everything for free these days.
It’s called networking – actually finding out what help people need and helping them – for free. Ignoring people who just drop links (spammers by any other name) and looking to meet the type of people that you would look for in real life. Yes you might need to spend some time and “kiss a few ugly sisters” as you go along but your business will benefit in the long run.
You will meet lots of new people in different parts of the country (and world) who you never would if you had never made the effort.
